Halling has had five children. Only Jinto lives with him because Jinnat, his mother, was Taken. He's 11 years old. One daughter, Tessing, was Taken by the Wraith three years ago when she was 19. His other children are two 15 year old twin sons, Aren and Wullam. They are adults in the eyes of the Athosian community, and their mother's name is Menya. He also has a daughter, less than a year old, named Dessa. Her mother, Anarie, is in a relationship with another man at the moment.

He was Teyla Emmagen's right hand man with the Athosian people and their religious leader.
